Advances in individual identification technology for Giant Panda

  • 摘要: 大熊猫作为全球广泛关注的旗舰保护物种, 其个体识别技术在野外监测、种群数量评估、行为生态研究及精准保护管理中发挥着关键作用。围绕大熊猫个体层面信息的长期获取与稳定识别, 相关研究在多种技术路径下不断发展。本研究系统回顾了当前大熊猫个体识别的主要研究途径, 包括基于足迹、DNA、图像和声音等, 并从识别精度、侵入性、可扩展性及野外适用性等方面对不同技术进行了综合比较。在此基础上, 系统总结了现有研究在数据获取、模型泛化和实际应用推广过程中面临的关键挑战。并对大熊猫个体识别研究的发展趋势进行了展望, 旨在为相关研究提供系统性参考, 并为濒危物种保护与智能化监测实践提供技术支撑。

     

    Abstract: As a globally recognized flagship conservation species, the giant panda plays a crucial role in ecological research and biodiversity protection. Individual identification technology is fundamental for conducting field monitoring, population estimation, behavioral ecology studies, and precision conservation management. To achieve long-term acquisition and stable identification of individual giant panda information, various technical approaches have been developed and applied. This research systematically reviews the current mainstream methods for giant panda individual identification, encompassing techniques such as footprint identification, DNA analysis, image recognition, and acoustic identification. A comprehensive comparison of these methods is conducted from multiple dimensions, including identification accuracy, invasiveness, scalability, and field applicability. Based on this analysis, key challenges facing existing studies in data acquisition, model generalization, and practical deployment are summarized. Finally, future directions for the development of giant panda individual identification technologies are discussed, aiming to provide systematic references for related research and technical support for endangered species conservation and intelligent monitoring efforts.
